Our Vision

A world where every young person—regardless of zip code—is seen, supported, and self-actualized.
We envision a future where underserved youth rise as emotionally whole leaders, creative storytellers, and economically empowered changemakers—healing generational wounds, honoring their roots, and building new systems of equity, care, and liberation.
Our Story

Paving Paths for the Unseen. Building Lanes for the Unheard.
Pave Your Own Lane (PYOL) was born in the heart of South Central Los Angeles, out of a desire to serve the students society often overlooks—those living in between survival and greatness. Founded by filmmaker, educator, and cultural worker Kamerie Gibson, PYOL is more than a youth program. It’s a movement toward healing, equity, and self-determination for Black and Brown youth.
As a first-generation college student who grew up below the poverty line and shared a bed with her brother until he ran away at 14, Kamerie knows what it’s like to grow up with dreams bigger than your zip code. She built this program for the kids like her—quiet, brilliant, full of potential, and waiting to be seen.
PYOL fuses healing with hustle. We teach business, entrepreneurship, and media production through a trauma-informed, culturally attuned lens. Our students learn how to make money, speak powerfully, create change, and love themselves deeply.
We believe our emotions are our superpowers. That crying is sacred. That our communities deserve more than survival. We deserve to thrive.

Our Values
At Pave Your Own Lane, our values are the heartbeat of everything we do. They’re born from struggle, shaped by experience, and driven by the belief that every young person deserves the space to be seen, to heal, and to rise.
Humanity Over Perfection
We make space for the full, imperfect human experience—healing, crying, learning, and growing.
Cultural Integrity
We honor our heritage. Identity isn’t an add-on—it’s the foundation.
Safe Space is Sacred
We create trauma-informed environments rooted in emotional safety, truth, and care.
Radical Empowerment
We teach youth to lead, build, and reclaim their power—on their terms.
Community = Family
We don’t do drop-in impact. We show up, stay consistent, and grow together.
Legacy Over Clout
We invest in generational healing and long-term transformation—not quick wins.
